Sister City to Community is Announced

Township, a quiet hamlet in Belgium was chosen from a field of 10 narrowed down prospects. The process required five votes and visits (and revisits) to four different continents. In the end, Township was selected because of how close the ...

Sister City to Community is Announced

June 1, 2010 in Uncategorized by drifter

After long months of research, and many miles logged on the road, the Daughters of Community have finally chosen a sister city as part of the Reaching out with Diplomacy campaign set forth by the city council.

Township, a quiet hamlet in Belgium was chosen from a field of 10 narrowed down prospects. The process required five votes and visits (and revisits) to four different continents.

In the end, Township was selected because of how close the city resembles our own villa of Community. Population is listed within 100 of ours, the main industry is ping pong paddles (which compliments our legendary output of ping pong balls nicely), and both cities are chartered Mayor/City Manager governments.

“I knew the first time we ever stepped foot in Township, that she would be our sister city,” Mary Smith, of the Daughters of Community, “The city had such a familiar feel about it, it just had to be the one.”

A joint celebration is in the works as hopes are to party for two weeks between Community and Township. One week festival in Township and the next week here in Community.

What a great vacation that would be, no?
