Words. Those of us who embrace writing can't live without them, and some of us do more that live with our lexemes. I for one, love to let words roll off my lips, I love to kiss words, I love to make love to certain words; I love to learn new words, then forget them, just so I can relearn them.
Certainly, there are words that are more splendid than most, and for various reasons, just about everyone has favorites and least favorites. two of my least favorites are swine and intestinal. My favorite word? Uxorious. As defined at Dictionary.com, uxorious:
–adjective
doting upon, foolishly fond of, or affectionately submissive toward one's wife.
As defined by me: one sexy mo' fo' of a word. I live to have a red lipstick wearing woman sitting across from me, pronouncing that word slowly~ the cupid bow of her lips pursing, and then teasingly pushing towards me with uhk ----then those lips flare slightly as her tongue taunts the roof of her mouth with--- sawr---then melt into the submissive---ee---finishing with the climactic way her lips would come wantingly open and then slide into a finishng purse--- uhs. I recently stumbled across a list that proclaimed to be the 100 Most Beautiful words in the English Language. Granted, no matter the criteria, any list that announces itself in any way to be definitive, can be argued. I personally think there are 100 striking words in this inventory, but the list is in no way definitive- in fact, I felt like I was suffering intestinal cramps from swine flu after seeing that uxorious wasn't on the list. But the astounding petrichor did make the cut.
What are some of your favorite and least favorite words?
Enjoy!

I am uxorious to my writing was a statement I wrote in a writing tips article. That article, that statement raised a lot of eyebrows and brought quite a few 'ohhs and ahhs' my way.
Thanks for stopping by, Correen!
